VERIFY® Assert™ STEAM Process Challenge Device

The VERIFY® Assert™ STEAM Process Challenge Device (PCD) is used to monitor dynamic air removal (prevacuum and steam-flush pressure-pulse) steam sterilization cycles performed at 270°F/132°C and 275°F/135°C and gravity cycles performed at 250°F/121°C and 270°F/132°C. Each PCD is a preassembled test pack that contains a VERIFY Assert Self-Contained Biological Indicator (SCBI) and a chemical integrator.

  • Rapid results within 40 minutes
  • For routine monitoring, qualification, and load monitoring of dynamic air removal cycles (LCB032/LCB033) and gravity cycles (LCB043)
  • Equivalent to an ANSI/AAMI ST79 16-Towel Biological Indicator Test Pack
  • Lightweight and compact

How the VERIFY Assert STEAM Process Challenge Device Works

Each SCBI consists of a plastic vial that is inoculated with Geobacillus stearothermophilus spores. Specialized defined media is sealed within the cap.

For routine or load monitoring, the VERIFY Assert STEAM PCD is placed in a loaded steam sterilizer chamber in the most challenging location, typically on the bottom rack directly over the drain, and the sterilization cycle is run. After the sterilization cycle, the PCD is removed and allowed to cool down. The easy-to-read integrating indicator strip provides an immediate pass or fail result.

The SCBI is incubated using the VERIFY® Incubator for Assert™ Self-Contained Biological Indicators. A negative response provided by the incubator indicates conditions for sterilization were met.

Why the VERIFY Assert STEAM Process Challenge Device?

  • Speed and Ease of Use

The VERIFY® Assert™ Self-Contained Biological Indicator provides rapid results within 40 minutes so that you can have peace of mind when releasing loads. The clear housing allows for immediate viewing of the chemical integrator for a pass or fail result.

  • Save with Compact Design

Compact design requiring minimal shelf space in sterilizer chamber. Minimize waste.

  • Safety and Compliance

The VERIFY Assert SCBI was tested per methods described in ANSI/AAMI/ISO 11138:2006, while the process indicator located on the cap meets the Type 1 chemical indicator requirements of ANSI/AAMI/ISO 11140-1: 2014. The chemical integrator in the VERIFY Assert STEAM PCD for dynamic air removal cycles meets the Type 5 integrating indicator requirements of ANSI/AAMI/ISO 11140-1: 2014.
